Transparent Sound and Versatility for a Price That's Within Reach

The AT4050 is one of best-selling vocal mics, and for good reason! Utilizing a low-noise transformerless design and multiple polar patterns, the AT4050 is ideal for use in the most demanding recording situations. It uses dual gold-plated, aged, large-diaphragm condenser elements for extended frequency response. Floating construction elements provide isolation from noise and vibration.

A Multipattern Workhorse Mic for Vocals, Guitar Amps and More!

Multiple pickup patterns and low-noise, transformer-less circuitry make the Audio-Technica AT4050 condenser microphone a standout choice for capturing vocals, guitars, amps, chamber ensembles, and more. Able to deliver transparent highs and mids down to rich lows, this professional vocal mic employs aged dual gold-plated, large-diaphragm condenser elements to get an extended frequency response. Audio-Technica's AT4050 performs with as little noise as possible -- its floating construction elements really isolate the microphone from environmental noise and vibration, so that when you sing or play into the AT4050, you hear your voice or instrument, and nothing else.

Audio-Technica AT4050 Condenser Microphone at a Glance:

  • Transparent highs, rich lows and low noise

  • Multiple polar patterns for versatility

  • Precision-built diaphragm and state-of-the-art electronics for reliable performance

Transparent highs, rich lows and low noise

The AT4050 produces transparent highs and mids balanced by rich low-end qualities, while its advanced acoustic engineering guarantees extensive performance capabilities and highest quality. The AT4050's transformerless circuitry virtually eliminates low-frequency distortion and provides superior correlation of high-speed transients.

Multiple polar patterns for versatility

Adding to the AT4050's value are the three polar patterns. You can select from cardioid, figure-8 or omnidirectional settings to tailor the AT4050 to any source you're recording. In addition, a switchable 80Ha highpass filter and a 10dB pad allow even more flexibility in capturing a multitude of sources. This mic can stand up to high SPLs and still deliver transparent sound!

Precision-built diaphragm and state-of-the-art electronics

The AT4050's 2-micron-thick, vapor-deposited gold diaphragms undergo a five-step aging process so that the optimum characteristics achieved remain constant over years of use. State-of-the-art surface-mount electronics make the AT4050 another of A-T's incredibly consistent and reliable microphones!

A Multipattern Mic to Suit Any Sound Source

Thanks to its multiple polar patterns, the AT4050 can accommodate any sound source you send its way. Choose from cardioid, figure-8, or omnidirectional settings to suit your recording session. Switch the mic's pickup pattern to cardioid for voiceovers, podcasts, and other dialogue or vocals; set it to bidirectional figure-8 when you're doing mid-side setups, recording a musician playing the guitar and singing at the same time, or recording duets, for example; or activate its omnidirectional pattern to capture the entire band or ensemble along with the unique characteristics of the room.

Crisp, Full, Transparent Sound

During studio recording and live sound applications, the AT4050 will let every nuance come through crystal clear. Its two aged, 2-micron-thick, vapor-deposited gold diaphragms provide the extended frequency response (20 Hz to 18 kHz) essential for producing transparent highs and mids balanced by rich lows. Though most musicians and producers would use the AT4050 on vocals, the versatile mic performs well for many other recording applications as well.

High SPL Handling and Low-Noise Performance

Want to capture drum overheads or blaring trumpets? The AT4050's switchable 80 Hz high-pass filter and 10 dB pad ensure that the microphone can stand up to 159 dB SPL (sound pressure level) and still remain ultra-transparent, giving you even more flexibility in capturing a range of audio sources.

Noise shouldn't be an issue, as the AT4050's transformerless design and floating construction virtually eliminate low-frequency distortion caused by vibration and environmental noise. What's more, surface-mount electronics lend the AT4050 the consistency and reliability you need when recording live or in the studio.
